Libni
Person Name
Name meaning: "same as Libnah"
Libni (meaning white) was the eldest son of Gershon son of Levi, and brother of Shimei (Ex. 6:17; Num. 3:18). He founded the Levitical family of the Libnites (Num. 3:21; 26:58), who served as one of the Gershonite clans in the tabernacle order. A second person named Libni appears in the Levitical genealogy of 1 Chronicles 6:29 in the line of Merari; he may be identical with the person elsewhere called Laadan.
