Linen Yarn

Linen yarn appears in the Authorized Version's rendering of 1 Kings 10:28 and 2 Chronicles 1:16 in connection with Solomon's horse trade with Egypt. The underlying Hebrew word mikveh is disputed: the Authorized Version takes it as "linen yarn," suggesting a textile trade, while modern scholars and most contemporary versions read it as a place-name — Kue (Cilicia in southeastern Asia Minor) — identifying it as the region from which Solomon's traders imported horses. The translation "linen yarn" is now generally regarded as a misidentification of this geographic term.
