Madmannah
Name meaning: "measure of a gift; preparation of a gift"
Madmannah (meaning dunghill or preparation of a gift) was a town in the Negev district of Judah, identified with the modern site approximately fifteen miles south-southwest of Hebron. It appears in Joshua 15:31 among the southernmost cities of Judah's tribal allotment in the Negev. In 1 Chronicles 2:49 it is listed as a place "founded" by Shaaph son of Caleb's concubine Maacah, reflecting the genealogical tradition of eponymous ancestors for towns.
The town lay in the arid but habitable southern Shephelah-Negev transition zone. Its identification with the modern village of Umm ed-Deimineh south of Beer-sheba has been proposed by some scholars. Beyond these brief mentions, Madmannah receives no further narrative in the biblical text.
