Makheloth

Makheloth (meaning assemblies or congregations) was one of the wilderness encampments of Israel during the Exodus journey, listed in Numbers 33:25–26 between Haradah and Tahath. It lay somewhere in the Sinai peninsula in the long middle section of the wilderness itinerary between Sinai and the plains of Moab, but its exact location has not been identified.

The name's meaning of assemblies or congregations may reflect a gathering place where the large Israelite community came together, though no narrative event is attached to the station in the biblical text. Like many of the wilderness stations, Makheloth is preserved only in the itinerary list of Numbers 33, which serves as a summary account of the forty years of wilderness wandering.
