Mattaniah
Person Name
Name meaning: "gift, or hope, of the Lord"
Mattaniah (meaning gift of the LORD) is a name borne by several biblical figures. The most historically significant was the original name of Zedekiah, the last king of Judah: Nebuchadnezzar changed his name from Mattaniah to Zedekiah when he installed him as a puppet king after the deportation of Jehoiachin (2 Kings 24:17). Another notable Mattaniah was a Levite musician in the temple, a son of Asaph appointed by David for worship ministry (1 Chronicles 25:4, 16; 2 Chronicles 29:13).
