Matthat
Person
Matthat (meaning gift of God, a form of Matthan) is the name of two ancestors of Jesus in the genealogy recorded in Luke 3. One Matthat was the son of Levi and father of Heli (Luke 3:24), and another was the son of Levi and father of Jorim further back in the line (Luke 3:29). Both appear in the Lukan genealogy tracing Jesus's descent through David and the patriarchs to Adam.
