Meah

Meah (meaning a hundred or a hundred cubits) was a tower in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate, mentioned in Nehemiah's account of the city's wall construction (Nehemiah 3:1). It lay between the Sheep Gate and the Tower of Hananeel, along the northern section of the city wall. Its name — "the hundred" — may refer to its height of one hundred cubits or to the hundred steps by which it was ascended. The tower was rebuilt as part of Nehemiah's restoration of Jerusalem's defenses after the return from Babylonian exile.
