Meronothite

Person Name

Name meaning: "my singing; rejoicing; bearing rule"

Meronothite is a gentillic designation appearing twice in the Old Testament, referring to inhabitants of an otherwise unidentified place called Meronoth. Jehdeiah the Meronothite served as the royal official in charge of David's donkeys (1 Chronicles 27:30), and Jadon the Meronothite is listed among those who repaired the Jerusalem wall during Nehemiah's rebuilding (Nehemiah 3:7). The location of Meronoth is uncertain; it may have been in Galilee or in the vicinity of Gibeon.
