Meshelemiah
Person Name
Name meaning: "peace, or perfection, of the Lord"
Meshelemiah (meaning peace of the Lord or perfection of the Lord) was a Levite of the family of Obed-edom who served as a gatekeeper of the tabernacle and later the temple in the time of David. He is listed among the chief porters appointed to guard the thresholds of the sanctuary (1 Chronicles 26:1–2, 9). His sons were also gatekeepers: Zechariah, his firstborn, is specifically noted for his discernment and counsel. The family's role as keepers of the temple gates was a distinguished Levitical office in Israel's liturgical organization.
