Methusael

Methusael (meaning who demands his death, or possibly man of God) was a Cainite, the son of Mehujael and the father of Lamech in the line of Cain (Genesis 4:18). He is distinct from the antediluvian patriarch Methuselah, who was in the Sethite line. Methusael appears only in the genealogy of Genesis 4, where the parallel structure of the Cainite and Sethite lines uses similar names (Methusael / Methuselah; Lamech / Lamech) — a feature scholars often read as either literary parallelism or evidence of shared underlying traditions.
