Mibhar

Person Name

Name meaning: "chosen; youth"

Mibhar (meaning chosen or youth) was one of David's thirty mighty warriors listed in 1 Chronicles 11:38, described as the son of Hagri. He may be the same individual called Bani the Gadite in the parallel list of 2 Samuel 23:36. The discrepancy between the two lists has been attributed to copying errors in the transmission of the text. Mibhar's inclusion among the thirty indicates he was one of the elite soldiers who formed David's bodyguard and fighting force.
