Mibzar

Mibzar (meaning defending or a fortress) was one of the chiefs (dukes) of Edom listed in the genealogies of Genesis 36:42 and 1 Chronicles 1:53. The Edomite chiefs in these lists are understood to be clan leaders or petty rulers of specific territories within Edom. Some scholars identify Mibzar with the fortified city of Bozrah or another Edomite stronghold, reading the name as a toponym that became a tribal designation.
