Migdal-gad

Migdal-gad (meaning tower of Gad) was a town in the lowland district of Judah listed in Joshua 15:37 among the cities of the Shephelah. Its location in the foothills west of Hebron placed it in a strategically and agriculturally valuable zone. The name suggests a fortified tower associated with the god Gad — a deity of fortune — though by the time of Israel's occupation the name likely served purely as a toponym. The site has not been positively identified.
