Mint

Mint (heduosmon in Greek, literally sweet-smelling) is a fragrant herb mentioned in the New Testament in Jesus's rebuke of the scribes and Pharisees: You tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness (Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42). The Pharisaic practice of tithing even tiny garden herbs like mint demonstrated meticulous attention to the letter of the law (Leviticus 27:30 required tithing of all produce), which Jesus does not criticize in itself — these you ought to have done — but contrasts with neglect of more fundamental obligations.

Mint was widely cultivated in Palestine for culinary and medicinal use. The species is likely Mentha longifolia (horsemint), which grows wild in moist areas throughout the region.
