Misdeem

Misdeem is an archaic English verb meaning to misjudge or to form a wrong opinion about. It appears in the KJV rendering of Deuteronomy 1:27 in some older English versions, translating the Hebrew term for the people's false accusation that the LORD hated them and had brought them out of Egypt to destroy them in the wilderness. The word reflects the biblical concern with accurately discerning God's purposes and intentions — the opposite of misdeemance is the faith that trusts God's declarations about his own character against all negative appearances.
