Mnason

Mnason was a Christian of Cyprus and an "old" (or early) disciple — that is, one who had been a follower of Jesus since the earliest days of the Church — with whom Paul lodged when he arrived in Jerusalem at the close of his third missionary journey (Acts 21:16). The Caesarean disciples accompanied Paul and brought him to Mnason's house, indicating that Mnason was a known and trusted member of the Jerusalem Christian community. His Cypriot origin links him to the same island that produced Barnabas (Acts 4:36), and the early wave of Cypriot believers who had played an important role in spreading the gospel to Antioch (Acts 11:19–20). The description of him as an "early disciple" (R.V.) may indicate that he had been a follower of Jesus during his earthly ministry or had been converted at Pentecost. He provided Paul hospitality at a moment of considerable tension (Acts 21:17–22).
