Mozah

Mozah (meaning unleavened or an issuing of water) was a town in the territory of Benjamin, listed among the cities in Joshua 18:26. It appears in the second group of Benjamin's cities, alongside Mizpeh and Chephirah, suggesting it lay in the hill-country northwest of Jerusalem. The site is tentatively identified with Khirbet Beit Mizza or the nearby Colonia (Qaluniyeh), a village approximately four miles northwest of Jerusalem on the road to Emmaus. Josephus mentions a place called Emmaus (Motsa) in this vicinity. Beyond its inclusion in the territorial list of Benjamin, Mozah is not the scene of any recorded biblical event, and its significance lies primarily in the systematic geography of Israel's tribal distribution as recorded by Joshua.
