Naamathite

Naamathite is the gentile designation of Zophar, one of Job's three friends (Job 2:11; 11:1; 20:1; 42:9). It indicates that Zophar came from Naamah, a place whose location remains uncertain — possibly in Arabia or Edom. Along with Eliphaz and Bildad, Zophar came to comfort Job in his suffering. His speeches represent the most dogmatic of the three friends' positions: he insists that Job's suffering must be the direct consequence of hidden sin and that God is actually punishing him less than he deserves (Job 11:6). At the end of the book God rebukes all three friends for not speaking rightly about him, requiring them to offer sacrifices and have Job pray for them (Job 42:7–9).
