Nachon
Place
Nachon (also spelled Nacon) was the owner of the threshing floor near which Uzzah was struck dead when he reached out his hand to steady the ark of the covenant as it was being transported to Jerusalem on a cart (2 Sam. 6:6). The site was afterward called Perez-uzzah ("the breaking out upon Uzzah") in memory of the event. The incident caused David to leave the ark for three months in the house of Obed-edom before resuming its transport to Jerusalem, this time carried properly by Levites on poles (1 Chr. 15:2, 13).
