Netophah

Netophah was a town in Judah, in the hill country near Bethlehem, from which a number of David's mighty warriors came — including Maharai and Heleb the Netophathites (2 Samuel 23:28–29; 1 Chronicles 27:13, 15). Fifty-six men of Netophah returned from the Babylonian exile with Zerubbabel (Ezra 2:22; Nehemiah 7:26). After the exile, Netophathite Levites settled there, maintaining the tradition of musical worship established by David (Nehemiah 12:28). The site is identified with Khirbet Beit Faluh, approximately three miles southeast of Bethlehem.
