Nicanor

Nicanor (meaning a conqueror or victorious) was one of the seven men chosen by the Jerusalem church to oversee the fair distribution of food to Hellenistic Jewish widows who had been neglected in the daily ministration (Acts 6:1–5). He was among those described as men of honest report, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom. Nicanor is otherwise unknown in the New Testament; tradition has sometimes connected him with later martyrdom, though this is not confirmed in Scripture.
