Nimrah

Nimrah (meaning leopard or limpid water) was a town east of the Jordan in the territory of Gad, also called Beth-nimrah (Numbers 32:36; Joshua 13:27). It was originally requested by the Gadites from Moses as part of their inheritance in Transjordan when they saw the land was suitable for their cattle (Numbers 32:3). The town lay in the Jordan valley north of the Dead Sea, in the fertile lowlands watered by streams descending from the mountains of Moab. Its full form, Beth-nimrah ("house of the leopard" or "clear water"), suggests either wildlife in the area or a spring of clear water.
