Nod

Nod (meaning vagabond or fugitive) was the land to which Cain went after God pronounced his judgment — "a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth" (Genesis 4:12). The text says Cain "dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden" (Genesis 4:16) and there built a city. The name Nod appears to be derived from the root of the curse itself, embedding the judgment into the geography: the land of wandering. Its precise location is unknown and likely symbolic — the land of Nod is the place defined by exile and restlessness, the existence of one cut off from the presence of God.
