Nun

Nun (meaning continuance or propagation; also rendered Non in 1 Chronicles 7:27) was an Ephraimite and the father of Joshua, Moses's successor. He appears in Scripture only in his paternal role: Joshua is consistently identified as "Joshua the son of Nun" throughout the Pentateuch and the historical books, distinguishing him from other individuals named Joshua. Nun himself has no recorded deeds; his significance lies entirely in his son. He was of the tribe of Ephraim, and 1 Chronicles 7:27 places him in the lineage from Ephraim through the descendants who eventually gave rise to Joshua's family.
