Obil

Obil (meaning that weeps or who deserves to be bewailed) was an Ishmaelite who served as the official in charge of King David's camels (1 Chronicles 27:30). He appears in the list of David's administrative officials overseeing the royal herds and flocks. The fact that a foreigner — an Ishmaelite — managed this important asset of the royal economy reflects the cosmopolitan character of David's court, which drew skilled specialists from multiple ethnic backgrounds for administrative roles.
