Ono

Ono was a town in the territory of Benjamin in the Sharon plain, built (or rebuilt) by Shamed, a Benjaminite (1 Chronicles 8:12), along with Lod and their surrounding villages. It is paired with Lod repeatedly in the post-exilic lists: Ezra 2:33 and Nehemiah 7:37 record that 725 men of Lod, Hadid, and Ono returned from the Babylonian captivity. In Nehemiah 6:2, Sanballat and Geshem used Ono as a neutral meeting place to which they invited Nehemiah — a summons he wisely refused, recognizing it as a plot against him. The town is identified with modern Kafr Ana, near Jaffa.
