Organ
Concept
The organ in the KJV is the translation of the Hebrew ugab, a wind instrument mentioned in Genesis 4:21, Job 21:12, Job 30:31, and Psalm 150:4. The instrument appears to have been a pipe or flute rather than anything resembling the modern pipe organ — likely a simple reed flute or a set of pipes blown by the mouth. In Genesis 4:21, Jubal is said to be the father of all those who play the harp and organ, identifying them as the founders of instrumental music. Modern translations typically render ugab as pipe or flute.
