Ornan

Ornan (also called Araunah in 2 Samuel 24) was a Jebusite — a member of the pre-Israelite inhabitants of Jerusalem — who owned the threshing floor on the summit of Mount Moriah that David purchased to erect an altar after the plague caused by his census. When David saw the angel of the LORD standing at Ornan's threshing floor with his sword outstretched over Jerusalem, he interceded for the people and was directed to build an altar there (1 Chronicles 21:18). Ornan offered to give the site and oxen freely to David, but David insisted on paying the full price: I will not take what is yours for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings with what costs me nothing (1 Chronicles 21:24). David paid six hundred shekels of gold.

The threshing floor of Ornan/Araunah became the site of Solomon's temple (2 Chronicles 3:1), connecting it to the ancient place where Abraham prepared to sacrifice Isaac (Genesis 22:2 — the land of Moriah).
