Othni

Person Name

Name meaning: "my time; my hour"

Othni (meaning my time or my hour, or possibly lion of God — a shorter form of Othniel) was one of David's mighty men and a gatekeeper of the temple, listed in 1 Chronicles 26:7 as a son of Shemaiah the Obed-edomite. He was a man of valor among the family of Obed-edom appointed to the temple gatekeeping and treasury duties. Othni should not be confused with his uncle Othniel the judge, though the names are closely related.
