Ozem

Person Name

Name meaning: "that fasts; their eagerness"

Ozem (meaning that fasts or their eagerness) was the name of two figures in the Old Testament. The first was the sixth son of Jesse and thus an older brother of King David (1 Chronicles 2:15). The second was a son of Jerahmeel in the tribe of Judah (1 Chronicles 2:25). Both appear only in genealogical lists and are otherwise unknown. The genealogy of Jesse's sons in 1 Chronicles 2:13–15 lists only seven sons before David (the eighth), suggesting that one of the brothers named elsewhere died without distinction or is counted differently from the account in 1 Samuel 16.
