Paarai

Paarai (meaning: opening of the Lord), identified as the Arbite, was one of the thirty mighty men of David's elite warrior corps. He is listed in the roster of David's heroes in 2 Samuel 23:35 and appears under the variant name Naarai the son of Ezbai in 1 Chronicles 11:37. Like the others in this distinguished group, Paarai distinguished himself in battle on behalf of the king.

His designation the Arbite links him to Arab, a town in the hill country of Judah. Beyond his inclusion in this celebrated list, no individual exploits of Paarai are recorded in Scripture. His name stands as part of the permanent record of those who were closest to David in his military campaigns.
