Pallu

Pallu (meaning: separated or distinguished) was the second son of Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and thus a grandson of the patriarch Jacob. He is listed among the seventy souls who accompanied Jacob into Egypt (Genesis 46:9) and appears in the tribal census records as the founder of the Palluite family within Reuben's clan (Numbers 26:5). His son Eliab, and grandson Dathan, became notorious as two of the leaders of the Korah rebellion against Moses in the wilderness (Numbers 16).

Though Pallu himself played no prominent role, the notoriety of his descendants cast a shadow over his lineage. The tribe of Reuben, despite being Jacob's firstborn, forfeited the preeminence that might have belonged to it, a theme the biblical narrative traces from Reuben's own moral failures.
