Palti

Palti (meaning: deliverance of the Lord), the son of Raphu, was appointed the representative spy from the tribe of Benjamin sent by Moses to explore the land of Canaan (Numbers 13:9). He was thus one of the twelve men who entered the land and returned with a report to Moses and the congregation at Kadesh-barnea. He is not identified among those who gave the evil report that discouraged Israel, though only Caleb and Joshua explicitly gave the minority report of faith.

A second person named Palti (also called Paltiel, deliverance of God) was the son of Laish from Gallim, to whom Saul gave his daughter Michal in marriage after her separation from David (1 Samuel 25:44). This Palti is depicted with touching grief when David later demanded Michal's return (2 Samuel 3:15–16).
