Pelet

Pelet (meaning: deliverance or swiftness) is the name of two individuals mentioned briefly in the genealogical and military records of the Old Testament. The first was a descendant of Judah through Caleb's line, listed among the sons of Jahdai in 1 Chronicles 2:47. The second was a son of Azmaveth and one of the Benjamite warriors who joined David at Ziklag before his accession to the throne (1 Chronicles 12:3), listed among those who were skilled with the bow and could use both hands in slinging stones and shooting arrows.

Neither Pelet is accorded individual narrative significance beyond these genealogical and military notices. Their inclusion in the Chronicler's lists reflects the comprehensive character of that work's effort to trace the families and warriors who shaped the early Davidic kingdom.
