Peleth

Peleth (meaning: swiftness or separation) is the name of two individuals in the Old Testament. The first and more notable was a Reubenite whose son On joined the rebellion of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness (Numbers 16:1). On the son of Peleth is named among the conspirators, though he does not appear again in the subsequent account of the rebellion and its judgment, leading some to suggest he may have withdrawn from the conspiracy.

The second Peleth was a son of Jonathan in the tribe of Judah and the father of Onam, listed in the Judahite genealogy in 1 Chronicles 2:33. He is a descendant of Jerahmeel, representing a branch of Judah's clan structure. Beyond these two genealogical appearances, the name Peleth carries no further narrative significance in Scripture.
