Perez-uzzah

Place

Perez-uzzah ("breach of Uzzah") was the name David gave to the threshing floor of Nacon (or Chidon) where Uzzah died after reaching out to steady the ark of God when the oxen stumbled. God's anger burned against Uzzah, and he died there beside the ark. David, frightened and angry at the breach the Lord had made against Uzzah, halted the procession and the ark remained with Obed-edom for three months before David brought it successfully to Jerusalem. The site became a memorial of the holiness of God and the danger of handling sacred things without reverence.
