Pethahiah

Pethahiah (meaning: the Lord opening; gate of the Lord) is the name of three men in the post-exilic period. The first was the head of the nineteenth priestly course in David's temple organization. The second was a Levite who confessed mixed marriages during Ezra's reform and stood on the stairs during the great public confession of Nehemiah 9. The third was a Judahite appointed as the king's agent in matters concerning the people, stationed at the Persian court — a liaison between the Jewish community and the imperial administration.
