Pharaoh's Daughters

Three daughters of Pharaoh are mentioned in Scripture. The most prominent is the daughter of Pharaoh who rescued the infant Moses from the Nile, named him, and raised him in the Egyptian court — an act of compassion that the New Testament treats as the providential means of Moses's education for his future mission. Moses's choice to identify with Israel rather than remain as "son of Pharaoh's daughter" is held up in Hebrews 11:24 as an act of faith. Solomon also married a daughter of Pharaoh as part of his political alliances, housing her in a specially built palace in Jerusalem. A third Pharaoh's daughter, Bithiah (or Bithia), is mentioned in 1 Chronicles 4:18 as wife of the Judahite Mered.
