Pi-hahiroth

Pi-hahiroth (meaning: the mouth; the pass of Hiroth) was Israel's last campsite before the crossing of the Red Sea (or Sea of Reeds), located "between Migdol and the sea, in front of Baal-zephon." Here the Israelites, apparently trapped between the sea and the approaching Egyptian army, witnessed God's miraculous opening of the sea. The site is associated with the eastern edge of the Egyptian delta, though its precise location remains debated. It appears in both the Exodus narrative and in Numbers 33:7–8's retrospective itinerary as a landmark of the great deliverance.
