Piram
Person Name
Name meaning: "a wild ass of them"
Piram (meaning: a wild ass of them) was the king of Jarmuth in Canaan, one of the five Amorite kings who joined the coalition against Gibeon following the city's treaty with Israel. After the Gibeonites appealed to Joshua, he marched through the night from Gilgal and routed the coalition at Gibeon. Piram and his four confederate kings — the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Lachish, and Eglon — fled and hid in a cave at Makkedah, where they were trapped by Joshua until the Israelite forces returned, then brought out and publicly executed as a sign of God's total victory over Canaan's kings.
