Pirathon

Pirathon (meaning: his dissipation or deprivation; his rupture) was a town in the hill country of the Amalekites in the territory of Ephraim, mentioned as the home of two men in Israel's history: Abdon son of Hillel, who judged Israel for eight years and was buried there; and Benaiah the Pirathonite, one of David's thirty mighty warriors and later his chief bodyguard under Solomon. The site is identified with Far'atah, about six miles west-southwest of Shechem in the Ephraimite highlands.
