Pisgah

Pisgah (meaning: hill; eminence; fortress) was a ridge or peak in the Abarim mountain range east of the Jordan, across from Jericho in the territory of Moab, from whose summit Moses was granted his final panoramic view of the promised land before his death. "Go up to the top of Pisgah and look westward and northward and southward and eastward, and look at it with your eyes, for you shall not go over this Jordan" (Deuteronomy 3:27). Numbers 23:14 places Balaam at the field of Zophim on the top of Pisgah for one of his oracles. Pisgah is often identified with, or as a spur of, Nebo, the specific summit where Moses died.
