Puteoli

Puteoli (modern Pozzuoli, near Naples) was the chief harbor on the Bay of Naples and the principal port of entry for the grain ships from Alexandria, Egypt, making it the most important commercial port of Rome's western supply lines. Paul landed there at the close of his voyage from Malta, on the final leg of his journey to Rome as a prisoner (Acts 28:13–14). He found Christian brothers there and was invited to stay for seven days before continuing to Rome on the Appian Way. The town was famous for its sulphurous springs — the source of its name — and for the volcanic terrain of the Campi Flegrei.
