Rabboni

Rabboni (an intensified form of Rabbi, meaning my great master or my lord) is used twice in the New Testament. The blind beggar Bartimaeus addressed Jesus as Rabboni when calling for healing (Mark 10:51), and Mary Magdalene used the same term when she recognized the risen Jesus at the tomb (John 20:16) — a moment of profound recognition that the Gospel of John preserves in Aramaic alongside the Greek. The intensified form conveys greater personal reverence and intimacy than the simple Rabbi. John translates it as Teacher for his Greek readers.
