Rabsaris

Rabsaris was a Babylonian official title (Akkadian rab sha reshi, chief of the head officials or possibly chief eunuch) borne by officials in both the Assyrian and Babylonian courts. The title appears in three biblical contexts: an Assyrian officer sent by Sennacherib along with Tartan and Rabshakeh to demand Jerusalem's surrender from Hezekiah (2 Kings 18:17); a Babylonian prince who sat at the gate of Jerusalem after Nebuchadnezzar's conquest (Jeremiah 39:3); and the court official Ashpenaz, chief of his eunuchs (the same Hebrew term), who oversaw Daniel and his companions in Babylon (Daniel 1:3).
