Rakkon
Place Name
Name meaning: "vain; void; mountain of enjoyment"
Rakkon (meaning vain or mountain of enjoyment) was a town in the territory of Dan listed in Joshua 19:46, located near the Mediterranean coast and the border with Joppa. The site is generally identified with Tell er-Reqeit on the coast north of Jaffa. Like several other Danite cities on the coastal plain, Rakkon may have been difficult for the tribe to control against Philistine and other pressure — a factor that eventually contributed to Dan's migration to the far north (Judges 18).
