Ram
Person Name
Name meaning: "elevated; sublime"
Ram (meaning elevated or sublime) was the name of several individuals in the Old Testament. The most significant was Ram son of Hezron, in the line of Judah through Perez, who appears in the genealogy linking Judah to David (Ruth 4:19; 1 Chronicles 2:9–10) and in Matthew's and Luke's genealogies of Jesus (Matthew 1:3–4; Luke 3:33). He was the grandfather of Nahshon, the prince of the tribe of Judah in the wilderness (Numbers 1:7; 7:12). A second Ram was the firstborn of Jerahmeel (1 Chronicles 2:25), and a third was a kinsman of Elihu who rebuked Job (Job 32:2).
