Ramath of the south

Ramath of the South (Hebrew Ramath-negeb, meaning height of the south) was a city in the southern Negev territory of Judah, listed in Joshua 19:8 as the southernmost city of the tribe of Simeon. It is also called Baalath-beer in the same verse. The town was located in the arid zone south of Beersheba, on the edge of the Negev desert. David sent spoil from his raid on the Amalekites to the elders of this city, among others, as gifts (1 Samuel 30:27), where it is called Ramoth of the south.
