Reuel

Reuel (meaning the shepherd or friend of God) is the name of several biblical individuals, the most significant being the father-in-law of Moses. In Exodus 2:18, Moses's father-in-law is called Reuel — the priest of Midian whose daughter Zipporah Moses married; this same man is later called Jethro (Exodus 3:1), possibly because Jethro was a title or an alternative name. Another Reuel was the second son of Esau and Basemath, daughter of Ishmael, and the father of four chieftains of Edom (Genesis 36:4, 10). A third Reuel was a Gadite leader (Numbers 2:14), and a fourth was a Benjaminite ancestor (1 Chronicles 9:8).
