Rezeph

Rezeph (meaning pavement or burning coal) was a city in Mesopotamia cited by the Rabshakeh (Sennacherib's representative) in his boastful challenge to Hezekiah, listing cities that Assyria had already destroyed: "Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed; as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Thelasar?" (2 Kings 19:12; Isaiah 37:12). The city was likely Rasappa, a well-known Assyrian provincial capital in northern Syria on the road between the Euphrates and Palmyra, confirming Assyria's extensive conquests west of the Euphrates.
